J. M. Baxi

Rozi is an anchorage port. GMB has constructed a jetty of 400 meters, which has been leased as private jetty for handling of cargo ex.vessels calling at port of Bedi. Out of this, 100 meter length with suitable back-up area leased to M/s. J.M.Baxi & Co.

In continuation of company's development projects in Gujarat and in order to help the export and import by fully mechanized means, the company is running its own jetty at Rozi (Jamnagar) since 1998 (on lease from Gujarat Maritime Board). In collaboration with company's principals MOSAIC (ex. Cargill) of U.S.A., the jetty is fully equipped with conveyors, hoppers and bagging plants ideally suited for loading and unloading bulk cargoes along with the complete mechanized operation with a modernsophisticated 3 floating cranes, SP / Dumb barges / Tugs to handle import /export cargoes of Panamax sized vessels from anchorage to Rozi Jetty and vice versa.

The jetty is about three miles from the vessels working anchorage. The Rozi Jetty has backup area which has been developed by the company by cementing to facilitate cargo working. In addition to this, full office complex has been built with the boundary wall with full mobile equipment like pay loaders, excavators and other units to handle bulk and bagged cargo.

To be competitive and offer better vessel discharge rate (10000 mts per weather working day), the company has constructed a bulk covered warehouse of approximately 30,000 mts storage capacity on the jetty alongwith support equipments like bagging plants, conveyors, excavators, payloaders and trained manpower. The focus is on faster turnaround of the vessel with minimum stay time at anchorage.

In this context, it can be mentioned that for the first time ever at Jamnagar (Bedi Port anchorage) in July 1998, a Panamax sized vessel was handled by J. M. Baxi with import cargo of about 56,000 mts. The entire operation was done through the Rozi Jetty at Bedi Port and since then many Panamax size vessels have been handled.
