Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) has envisioned the integrated online solution for GMB’s ports to increase administrative efficiency and to establish paperless regime.

To move ahead with IPMS conceived for mission critical monitoring and management of GMB ports along coastline of Gujarat through single window with Management Information System/Dashboard.

The maritime port solution for improved transparency, accuracy, and pioneering major information system benchmark was envisaged thereby appointing consultant for assuring the state-of-art ICT infrastructure for GMB operated ports. The major touch points like Port Community System (PCS), Vessel Traffic and Port Monitoring System (VTPMS), Integrated Customs EDI System (ICES) were determined as process-enablers for Integration with GMB’s IPMS.

Integrated Port Management System will be implemented in Phase manner as under:

Port Operation Management System (POMS)

POMS shall cater to all the business transactions happening at various GMB Ports. The IPMS is expected to handle the entire revenue generation activities of GMB. The modules of IPMS shall include Ports Operation Management, eBusiness Management, EDI etc. Which is under implementation.

POMS will be used by various departments of GMB as well as all the stakeholders of GMB like importers / exporters, Clearing Agents, Stevedores, Banks, etc.

Operational Objectives of POMS is as under:

ERP

GMB ERP shall cater to various administrative and organizational procedures & processes, such as HR Management, Financial Management, Works Management & Administration Management. It shall be a web-based system with centralized architecture. The ERP system shall be available to all the GMB offices, including the port & other remote offices.

Integrated Security Management System (iSMS)

With the view to implement The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code compliance on all the imp ports of GMB and to enhance safety & security at its various ports & offices, GMB made the Integrated Security Management System – iSMS - a part of its ambitious IPMS (Integrated Port Management System) Project.

The Integrated Security Management System (iSMS) shall handle security related sub-systems such as the Security Management (e.g. Video Surveillance, Access Control, and Information Security), Disaster Management, & Environment Management considering the requirement of International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

Setting up of a local level Control Room with alarm monitors, disaster management set up, security workstations & the necessary server, communication & storage set-up
A Video Surveillance Network consisting of fixed IP cameras & IP PTZ cameras
An Access Control System comprising physical access control equipment (turnstiles/flap barriers, boom barriers & EM locks), biometric readers, card readers, access cards & access controllers
A Perimeter Intrusion Detection System
A Physical Screening System comprising Door Frame Metal Detector & Hand held Metal Detectors
A Public Address System comprising amplifiers & PA directional speakers & zone selectors
A robust wireless communication network for video/data as well as for emergency voice communication.

The system shall help in proactive identification of disaster/emergencies and also help in an automated response mechanism. The system shall also create a communication infrastructure, which is omnipresent in nature with essential focus on video surveillance.

Integrated Network for Project IPMS (INPI)

It is being planned to implement Integrated Port Management System (IPMS), an ambitious project of GMB and GoG at Gandhinagar and across all the port locations of GMB and especially at the 11 port districts (group of ports) after detailed study and analysis.

Keeping this in mind, the it was designed a state-of-the-art; highly secure GMB WAN (Wide Area Network). During the study various parameters like security & surveillance, future scalability, existing requirement, performance, network congestion, network availability portability, IPMS and VoIP & Radio connectivity were considered.

The GMB WAN will consist of several active network equipment such as routers, core switches, firewalls, IPS, access switches and so on at Gandhinagar HO and the port district offices. The network will be managed with the help of a modern network management system which will be loaded on the central server.

Key Objectives of INPI

Provide passive, structured networking at major GMB offices across Gujarat
Enable connection of various port offices to the GMB HO at Gandhinagar through GSWAN and / or VPN MPLS
Provide network security
Provide application access to internal users from SDC
Connect GMB HO to the State Data Center at Gandhinagar by OFC
Build a futuristic network to accommodate future requirements of GMB like VoIP, CCTV video feeds, etc.

Desktop Virtualization Solution in GMB (DVSG)

To overcome organizational challenges of data security, safety and duplication, unique desktop virtualisation concept, as a part of virtualisation technology platform, was conceived. Envisaged virtual desktops effectively separate a PC's desktop environment from the physical machine that is displaying and interacting with the environment.
