Road and Rail Network

The port is well connected with state highway. The National highway 8A is 55km from the port at Maliya. The port is directly connected with broad gauge railway line. The nearest airport is Rajkot. The port is about 50 km from Morbi urban center and is 100 km from Rajkot city.

Anchorage

The Outer anchorage is situated at 25 nautical mile from port near Tuna bouy at Lat: 22o 48.2' N Long: 70o 10.6’ E for draft up to 12m and at Lat: 22o 50.3' N and Long: 70o 10.6' E for draft more than 12m. The inner anchorage is at 5.5 nautical miles from the port situated at Lat: 22o 55.43'N and Long: 70o 22. 86' E and available draft is more than 12m.

Pilotage

Pilotage is not compulsory at the Port up to a draft of 9 m. For a draft of more than 9 m. pilot guide is necessary, from Tuna Buoy up to the anchorage, for which advance intimation of 24 hours is necessary.

Navigational Aids

Pilot Station : Tuna Buoy

Navigational aid : available at outer Tuna Buoy - 17.5 nautical miles from Navlakhi. The Navlakhi Port limit starts only from Buoy No. 5, installed in Hansthal Creek.

Private Sector Initiatives

Piled jetty of 102m on Sui creek in length was developed by M/s. United Shippers Ltd. and is operational.
A lighter wharf of 76.5 m. on Sui Creek has been allotted to M/s. Jaydeep Associates Ltd. and is operational.
A lighterage private wharf of 92 m on Sui side was developed by M/s. Shreeji Shiping and is operational.
Silo for cement product by M/s. Sanghi Cement Ltd.

Additional facilities/investment plan

Environment Management Plan (EMP) have been prepared to attained environmental issues. Under this, works of strengthening of platform, roads, raising the height of compound wall, master plan of drainage system, plantation etc are taken up. The works total amounting to Rs 30 crores are taken up in phased manner.
There is plan to provide 870 m berthing place with Mechanized Handling System at Sui side to overcome space constrain and to address environmental issues. The development will be eco-friendly as per guideline of GBCB. The procedure for CRZ/environment clearance is under way.

Potential Opportunity

The Rajkot and Surendranagar District produces sanitary wares, glazed tiles, vitreous tiles, wall clocks and other electrical goods, which have very good scope for exports. Currently, exporters use container terminal at Mundra and Kandla. There are good opportunities to set up additional berthing facilities with Mechanized Handling System at Navlakhi Port on Sui Creek. Adequate land for container stacking yard is also made available.
