GMB had granted port development rights to M/s Shell Gas B.V for development of Hazira Port. Concession agreement for the same has been executed with M/s Hazira Port Private Ltd. (HPPL) - a company promoted by M/s Shell Group in April 2002. The company had developed LNG import and storage facilities at Hazira port and is operational since 2005. During the year 2013-14, the port handled about 2.84 million tons of LNG.

M/s Adani Hazira Port Private Ltd (AHPPL) has been granted rights for Phase 1B development of Hazira port through Sub-Concession Agreement. Under the Phase 1B plan non LNG Terminals - Container, Liquid Bulk, Major Bulk & Minor Bulk, is to be handled by the developer. Construction of 5 berths has been completed and is operational.
