Existing shipyard in Bhavnagar is situated on the West Coast of India, connecting to the Arabian Sea. The shipyard has waterfront of 200 mtrs with sufficient back-up land for constructing vessels upto 100 mtrs in length and 20 mtrs in breadth with launching draught of 3.5 mtrs. Eight (8) vessels could be constructed at a time depending upon the order.
The facility is equipped to build vessels up to 6000 DWT. The shipyard adopts side launching facility for high utilisation of available space and restriction on width of waterway front. One dry dock of 80 mtrs x 16 mtrs and a depth of 4.2 mtrs, with swing-out flap gate is being used both for new construction and repairs. The vessels with light draught of 2.8 mtrs maximum can be taken in or taken out from dry dock. The yard has permission from Customs / Excise Authority for shipbuilding in bond and is authorised to import any machinery, plate, etc without being charged customs duty.
The yard has got other facilities like steel stock yard, surface treatment area, PVGL / captive power, machinery shop, CNC Shop, bonded warehouse, general warehouse, office blocks, canteen for workmen, toilet blocks, container store/contractor's offices and other common facilities.
The yard complies with ISO 9001:2000 certification of the IRQS (Indian Register of Quality Systems).
Apart from above, the yard has been engaged as turnkey project executor from another established Shipyard Alcock Ashdown (Gujarat) Ltd., for 2 nos. 12800 DWT product tanker IMO II under ABS classification Society. |

| New Shipyard At Ratanpar, Bhavnagar |
The company has acquired a land of about 161000 Sq.Mtr. (about 40 acres) from Collector, Bhavnagar between Ghogha and Kuda on a sea front of Ratanpar to develop a new shipyard.
In this shipyard, the company plans to construct vessels up to 65000 DWT with 7 Meter light draught. The company has plans to construct wet basin, end launching slipway, side launching pad and dry-dock for new construction and repairs.
The company has also signed a joint venture agreement with Gujarat Maritime Board for development of Ro-Ro terminal near its new shipyard. For the backup land, the company has made an application with Collector, Bhavnagar for allotment of further 283 acres of land for development of various facilities for Ro-Ro terminal e.g. parking space for 600-700 trucks, no. of warehouses for storage of goods, passengers terminal, waiting lounge and other necessary facilities.
Modest plans to invest about Rs. 400-450 crores over a period of 2 years for developing the above infrastructure. It has shipbuilding order worth Rs.1400 crores in hand with a delivery upto 2011. By 2011, the company's turnover will be Rs.750 crores per annum. With additional land and facility being developed, the company will be in a position to book more orders. By 2010, company intends to have about 3000 skilled/unskilled personnel. |
